2018 symposium take.build.repeat. by the KIT Faculty of Architecture

Stefan Rohrmus, Manager Sustainability International Services at Schüco International KG,
provided an insight into sustainability work in companies and industry at the symposium take.build.repeat., held by the KIT Faculty of Architecture in November 2018.

Rohrmus studied Industrial Engineering and Management at the TH Karlsruhe (today KIT) until 1996. Afterwards he worked for 10 years as Quality Manager at Daimler AG in different car factories. Since 2006 he has been working for Schüco International KG, a system house for building envelopes and one of the market leaders for window, façade and door systems. His responsibilities were management system certifications (ISO 9001), quality planning in new product projects and QM supplier management. In 2014 he introduced the environmental management system according to ISO 14001, completed the first energy audit for Schüco and contributed to the first carbon footprint assessment of the company. Since 2017 he has been manager for sustainability issues, is responsible for the cradle to cradle certification of Schüco systems, is the contact person for building certification systems, and is working on the introduction of sustainability standards in the supply chain. As a result of this role, he has been a member of the standard committee of the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) since 2016, which launched the world’s first standard for responsible aluminium in late 2017.
