Does concrete // in a sustainable world // have a future ?
In this event, we would like to stimulate a discourse on the current problems in the use of concrete, the current and future possibilities of recycling old concrete into new concrete, as well as new application concepts and production formulations for concrete. -

At the symposium sustain.build.repeat., held by the KIT Faculty of Architecture in April 2022, Mag. Arch. Roland Gruber gave a lecture about cities expanding and growing at the outer edges while city centers are constantly becoming emptier and calmer. -

At the symposium sustain.build.repeat., held by the KIT Faculty of Architecture in April 2022, Prof. Dr. Philippe Block gave a lecture about how existing construction principles could be applied in a much more material- and resource-saving way in the future - by the application of the "strength through geometry" principle. -

At the symposium sustain.build.repeat., held by the KIT Faculty of Architecture in April 2022, Dipl. Kfm. Daniel Fuhrhop gave a lecture about the hidden living space in existing buildings that can be easily found and recreated by introducing social programs - without harming the climate or constructing new buildings. -

Many exciting speakers were guests at the 2022 sustain.build.repeat symposium, which was held at the ZKM and livestreamed under the management of PINK Event Service. The event was organized by the KIT Professorship of Sustainable Construction with the kind support of Wacker Chemie AG. In order to revisit the contents of the symposium, a podcast was recorded in cooperation with Campusradio Karlsruhe. -

Symposium sustain.build.repeat. – Building Stock as the Resource of the 21st Century
We are very pleased to announce our 3rd Symposium on Sustainable Construction on the 29th April 2022 in the ZKM Medientheater in Karlsruhe and online. The event is organized by the Professorship of Sustainable Construction and is being held with the kind support of Wacker Chemie AG. -

At the symposium grow.build.repeat., held by the KIT Faculty of Architecture in December 2020, Prof. Dr. Marie-Pierre Laborie lectures about about the potential of bio based polymers within wood as a renewable resource for the building sector. -

At the symposium grow.build.repeat., held by the KIT Faculty of Architecture in December 2020, Martin Rauch gave a lecture about earth as an ecological building material. He showed some of the most important projects realized with his company Lehm Ton Erde Baukunst GmbH and explained the advantages of earth in comparison to other building materials. -

At the symposium grow.build.repeat., held by the KIT Faculty of Architecture in December 2020, Prof. Dr. Henk Jonkers gave a lecture about self-healing concrete. He addresses the question of the amount of concrete being used in the building industry today and provides a solution for environmentally responsive concrete. -
Dr. Alireza Javadian at grow.build.repeat. by KIT
At the symposium grow.build.repeat., held by the KIT Faculty of Architecture in December 2020, Dr. Alireza Javadian gave a lecture about the special qualities and capacities of bamboo in comparison to other building materials and shows different types of application of bamboo as a material substituting other materials.
