2018 symposium take.build.repeat. by the KIT Faculty of Architecture

At the symposium take.build.repeat., held by the KIT Faculty of Architecture in November 2018, Univ. Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Annette Hillebrandt gave an insight into her research work, which has been published as “ATLAS Recycling”. She presents a range of innovative projects and products, which in her opinion show exemplary recycling potentials in the construction industry.

Univ. Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Annette Hillebrandt has been a freelance architect since 1994 and, after holding professorships in Kaiserslautern and Münster (since 2001), is now the holder of the professorship of Building Construction | Design | Materials Science at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal. As an associate in the planning office m.schneider a.hillebrandt architektur, Cologne, she has received several awards for her buildings.

In addition to memberships in design assurance committees and prize juries, she has been involved in the DGNB’s expert pool “Rückbau- und Recyclingfreundlichkeit“ (Deconstruction and Recycling Friendliness) from the very beginning. In 2015 she received the Urban Mining Award for her commitment. Annette Hillebrandt researches and publishes on recycling potentials in building construction (www.Urban-Mining-Design.de, “ATLAS Recycling – Gebäude als Materialressource”, DETAIL Verlag, 2018), is the initiator of a publicly accessible information platform for building materials (www.material-bibliothek.de) and co-initiator of a nationwide student competition (www.urbanminingstudentaward.de).
